What are biological hazards?
Biological hazards, also known as biohazards, refer to a risk to human health or the environment due to biological work. This can include samples of a micro-organism, virus or toxin (from a biological source) that can affect the human health. These substances can also be harmful to animals.
Examples of Biohazards:
- Human or animal blood
- Human or animal waste/bodily fluids
- Deceased animals
- Human remains
- Used IV(intravenous) needles/syringes
- Medical Waste
- Rotting food
According to the Center for Disease Control there are 4 levels of biohazards. Level 1 are agents that pose minimal threat to humans and the environment (ex. E. Coli). Level 2 are agents that can cause severe illness in humans, these are transmitted through direct contact with infected material (ex. Hepatitis, HIV). Level 3 are pathogens that can become airborne and pose serious risk (ex. Tuberculosis). Level 4 are pathogens that pose high risk of life threatening disease that have no treatments (ex. Ebola).
Clean up and Restoration
Failure to properly remove these substances can contribute to dangerous environments that pose serious health risks. SERVPRO of North Calhoun is trained to safely remove bio hazardous substances and dispose of them properly. Equipped with the proper safety apparatus and cleaning products, we can transform these environments back into clean, healthy and safe homes and businesses.
Decontamination of a home or office due to chemical spills, hoarding, sewage backups or other biohazards can be scary and dangerous. The correct training and experience is key when deciding a cleanup company to resolve these situations.
That's why SERVPRO of North Calhoun is here to help make it "Like it never even happened."
